The Roaring Twenties

Hi folks, Dawn here.  I made this card using some of my favorite papers and my new favorite digi stamp, Flapper 1 from the  Roaring Twenties collection.  I enjoyed  coloring the pretty dress and look forward to coloring the other stamps from this set.

Supply:  This cardfront made with  Colorbok papers and stickers was adhered with Tombow mono glue to Staples cardstock.  The sentiment is from Just Rite Clear Antique Valentine Tags One CR-0435.  Stamp inked with Ranger Archival Ink.  Digi colored with Prismacolor pencils. 

Secret Garden

This box was decorated using The Fuschia Flowers paper package that was given as a free gift to attendees of The Odd Show Live's National Scrapbook Day Extravaganza.  You can find a very similar set of papers in the Tangerine Tango Flowers digital paper pack .  I decoupaged the box with two of the polka dotted papers and also cut out some flowers from the flowered paper and decoupaged those on as well.  I created 3D embellishments using the same polka dotted papers and some inked and crimped cardstock. I lined the inside with velvet backed paper.  Inside the top lid I put a secret garden for the added whimsy.  Who can resist the beauty of fuschia and black together?

Floral Freebie Book

A cute cardboard and paper book

I have been on a bookmaking journey, and it has been so much fun!  I covered my first book with Amanda's gorgeous flower paper that is available for FREE to people who read the A.J.'s Digi Shoppe Blog.  I used corrugated cardboard for my front and back covers and some cereal box card for the binding cover.  The spine is a piece of cardstock folded accordian style. The pages were glued directly to the folds of the spine.  I added in cardstock that I colored using distress ink pads to create spaces on the pages to write on.   I removed some pages from a dollar store notepad and attached inside the back cover.  I embellished with paper flower stickers that I distressed with stain and ribbon. I rubbed the whole book down with distress inks to add some character.

Love is Eternal

Bookmarks have been my project(s) this week and I made this one using A.J.'s Digi Shoppe's digital Hearts paper and the Foxes freebie that was available in February's A.J.'s Digi Shoppe Newsletter.

I love that A.J.'s Digi Shoppe now offers its fabulous digis in color as well as black and white.  I printed the digis much smaller than I would have if I had to color them in by hand.  I also have been inspired by the many varieties of hearts paper that Amanda created, these two are particularly fun.

Understated Birthday

I made this card, using A.J.'s Digi Shoppe digital stamps, for someone who is wishing to downplay their birthday this year.  I matched this card to the tastes of the recipient using autumn colors and animal print.  I used the very versatile brown paper from the Gingerbread Paper Pack as a background matte and used the Birthday Candle (colored digitally) to represent the idea that this is, in fact, a birthday card.

Happy Moo Year!

For the second time this month I used the Cow over the Moon digi stamp. I created a card by combining that stamp which can be found here with the fireworks digi stamp which can be found in the Patriotic Duck Stamp 2 collection here to create this New Years card.  I used my Gimp 2 free program to digitally color these stamps, which is a first for me, and also used markers to enhance them slightly. I used a glue pen and embossing powder to create the silver sentiment.  I printed my image twice so that I could use foam tape to pop up the cow and star.  I added a few glitter felt stars left over from my last project to add a bit more sparkle. I wish everyone the happiest of 'moo' years!

Moon & Stars Ornaments

I like to add a few new ornaments to my Christmas Tree every year.  This year I have been feeling less than energetic so I made very simple ornaments using A.J.'s Digi Shoppe's Cow over the moon digi stamp (minus the cow) as the template.  You can find digi's from the 'Hey Diddle Diddle' collection here.  I printed the stamp onto regular cardstock then cut out the images and traced around them onto some stiff, glittery felt I found at my local Dollarstore.  I glued the stars onto the moons and used some wrapping cord from the Dollarstore as a hanger. This is very simple and could be done by children and yet the finished effect is quite pretty and will be a nice addition to our tree this year.

Recipe for Holiday Wishes

the recipes slip right into the pocket

I often have requests for my recipes so I decided to give out recipes as 'gifts' this year.  I created a very simple card using A.J.'s Digi Gingerbread Paper, which you can find here.  I made a pocket on the bottom of the card large enough to hold a few recipe cards and used a couple of acrylic stamps to make the sentiment plaque.  I distressed the recipe cards to give them a homey feel and bundled them with a nice shiny ribbon.

Fall for Owls

The 2 huge maple trees in my yard have lost their leaves and I have been in an autumn sort of mood, so I created this fall themed card with Amanda's loveable owl couple.  You can find this digi stamp here.  I printed my sentiment out on some patterned paper and used some stickers as embellishment.

Since it is now November, I have to admit that the holiday season is coming.  I made a tag for a Christmas present using the Santa Turtle digi stamp from A.J.'s Digi Shoppe.  Please find the Santa Turtle HERE. I used Fantasy Shimmer cardstock for the first time in making this project. (I liked it very much and was pleased that it did not lose much glitter on my work surface.)

Wintery Wonderland



 For my second A.J.'s Digi Shoppe design team submission this month, I tore myself away from Amanda's adorable Halloween designs and made a Christmas card.  I think this Christmas Owl is very cute and he looks so cozy in his scarf and toque (that is winter hat, for all you non-Canadians out there.)  Find Owls here. I also used Amanda's Let it Snow/Snowflakes Freebie which is available here.
